Congratulations to all the athletes who competed in the inaugural Pride Track & Field Meet on July 7, 2007! Complete results are now available. Maybe you can beat the meet records from the first year? Come give it a try on July 26, 2008!   Inaugural Meet Highlights - A New World Record! Marie-Louise Michelsohn (New York, NY) set a new World Record in the 5000 meters. Her time of 20:27.08 bettered the existing women's 65-69 age-group record by 15 seconds! The cool weather did not deter several other sizzling performances: Bruce McBarnette (M 45-49) high jumped 1.87 (6' 1.5") meters. He was attempting to break the current age-group world record of 2.01 meters (6' 7"). He cleared 2.00 meters last year, when he was 48. Paul Sinatra (M 45-49) cleared 4.80 meters (15' 9") in the pole vault, missing his age-group world record by .30 meters. Adarian Barr (M 40-44), triple jumper, moved to # 6 in the world rankings for ages 40-44 with his 12.99 meter (42' 7.5") bound. Antonette Carter (W 18-29) long jumped 5.99 meters (19' 7.75") and ran the 100M in 11.81 seconds. She recently placed # 21 in the 100M, # 17 in the 200M, and # 12 in the Long Jump at the 2007 USA Outdoor Nationals. Carrie Johnson (W 18-29) threw the hammer 62.97 meters (206' 7"). Carrie recently placed 4th in the Hammer at the 2007 USA Outdoor Nationals.
Finally, on the lighter side of things, the winners of the meet-closing Fun Relay were the Village People (Dallas, TX), who received the coveted first-place Gold Disco Ball medals for their spirited outfits and performance. |
